Kentucky's portal class continues to take shape.
Cooper Corkrean, a left-handed pitcher who spent two seasons at Galveston College in Texas before enrolling at New Mexico for the 2026 season, has committed to the Wildcats.
Bat Cats Central wrote in Sunday's portal update that Kentucky was in a good position to land the Texas native. Pete Nakos of On3.com reported on Wednesday that Corkrean's commitment was official. He is Kentucky's 10th portal commitment of the summer.
Corkrean was a long reliever in his lone season with the Lobos. He made 21 appearances – including two starts – and logged 59.1 innings as a junior. Corkrean went 6-2 with a 5.31 ERA, two saves and 59 strikeouts. He walked 24 and hit six batters.
Corkrean's numbers were solid against Mountain West competition as he earned Second Team All-MWC honors at the conclusion of the season. He posted a 5-1 record and 3.81 ERA across 28.1 innings over 10 appearances. He struck out 31 and walked nine, and MWC opponents were held to a .194 average. The .194 average was the second-best of any pitcher in the Mountain West. Corkrean posted a 1.02 WHIP in league play.

The Wildcats lost Jackson Soucie to graduation and freshman Toby Peterson to the transfer portal, but it's set to return left-handers Leighton Harris, Will Coleman, and Ben Cleaver.
