The opportunity to play at Wright State "meant the world" to JP Peltier. Not only is he from Ohio, but he also grew up about 20 minutes from Wright State's campus in Dayton. Peltier played in front of numerous friends and family over his three-year career with the Raiders, but after his junior season ended, he decided to see where his career could take him next.
“It was really hard," Peltier told Bat Cats Central. "I love Wright State. I still have a lot of love for that place and the people there. But it really came down to, when it’s all said and done with my baseball career, did I do everything I could to play at the highest level possible and to challenge myself and to see what I had in me? I don’t want to have any regrets when it’s all done, so I felt like this was the move I had to make.”
Peltier's commitment to Kentucky 10 days ago sparked a wave of new additions from the portal. He was just the Wildcats' second portal commitment of the summer, but the class now has 10 transfers.
A 6-foot-3 utility player, Peltier is coming off a season where he slashed .294/.391/.548 with 24 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs and 54 RBIs. As a sophomore, he hit .303/.391/.628 with fewer doubles (14) but 10 more home runs. He comes to Kentucky with 30 career homers and 38 career stolen bases.
