One of the most appealing aspects of PJ Craig's career thus far has been his ability to eat innings. He threw 24 innings as a junior before missing the rest of the season, but in the three years he's been healthy, Craig logged 229.2 innings.
This past year with Rider, Craig was sixth nationally with 102.2 innings pitched. He finished with a 3.59 ERA and posted nine quality starts and tossed two complete games.
"I’m going to pound the zone, get ahead early and mix the off-speeds in there," Craig told Bat Cats Central. "Try to get ahead with the fastball, set up the off-speed late in counts. Not going to walk a lot of guys, but just going to compete.”
Craig spent four seasons with the Broncs. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder said he flew under the radar as a recruit at Barnegat High School in New Jersey, which is located a little over an hour away from Rider's campus in Lawrenceville.
"I was a bit of a late bloomer," Craig said. "Found a good home at Rider, but heading into the portal this year, I got a lot more interest than I was expecting. It was a little hectic at first, but it slowed down a little bit and I was able to narrow down some schools I was really interested in."
