Here's how the Wildcats will line up for the first part of the scrimmage:

There aren't many changes from last week. Riley Jackson is at catcher after Brayden Ricketts sustained a finger injury last weekend against Cincinnati, and freshman Kaden Powell is the DH rather than Caeden Cloud. Otherwise, the Wildcats are lined up the same way defensively.

There are no live stats today, so everything posted here is unofficial.

NINTH INNING

SCORE: Kentucky 13, Xavier 8

TOP HALF: Chase Alderman enters the game for the Cats. He gets a fly out to right field for the first out. He then walked the second batter before rolling up a double play to end the inning.

BOTTOM HALF:

EIGHTH INNING

SCORE: Kentucky 13, Xavier 8

*Some defensive changes this inning for Kentucky. Freshman Carson May is in at catcher, Hindle moved to shortstop and Caeden Cloud (second base) and Owen Lee (third base) entered the infield. The outfield remains the same.

TOP HALF: McIntyre is back out for another inning, and he struck out the first batter he faced. The next batter hit a long fly ball to center field that Tharnish tracked down for the second out, and the inning ended on a lineout to right field.

BOTTOM HALF: Hindle leads off the bottom of the eighth with a home run to right center field. He homered last week against Cincinnati, as well. Cloud struck out looking in his first at-bat of the day. Ellis drew a one-out walk and then stole second base during freshman Carson May's at-bat. May then homered off the batter's eye on a hanging curveball. Chrisman struck out for the third time today for the second out, then Owen Lee drew a walk and stole second base on a delayed steal. Kelsey drew a walk to bring up Tharnish, who popped out to first base to end the inning.

SEVENTH INNING

SCORE: Kentucky 10, Xavier 8

TOP HALF: McIntyre is back out after a long wait between innings as Kentucky's offense put up five runs. He's welcomed back with a first pitch single. McIntyre struck out the next batter for the first out. A high throw from Brown to Ellis trying to turn two results in an error. With two runners on, Brown fielded a slow roller and took the out at first for an unassisted putout. McIntyre walked a runner to load the bases once again, but he stranded the runner with a 96 mph strikeout looking.

BOTTOM HALF: Peltier led off the inning with a groundout, though it certainly would have been challenged in a real game as it was a bang-bang play at first. Kelsey flew out in the infield on one pitch for the second out. Tharnish was hit by a pitch with two strikes then stole second. The inning ended on a fly out by Brown.

SIXTH INNING

SCORE: Kentucky 10, Xavier 8

TOP HALF: The inning begins with a groundout to Hindle at second base, followed by back-to-back walks. Xavier makes Mullan pay with a line drive single into center field to make it 7-5. Another walk loads the bases, and that'll do it for Mullan. Dylan McIntyre is entering with one out. McIntyre walks the first batter he faces to bring in another run to make it 8-5. Jackson makes an outstanding play behind the dish to run down a foul ball for the second out. He's made a couple of nice plays today. McIntyre gets out of the inning with a groundout to second base.

BOTTOM HALF: Xavier brings in a tall right-hander to begin the inning. Kelsey was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. That's the second time today he's been plunked. Tharnish followed that with a four-pitch walk to bring up Brown. Brown fell behind in the count but ropes a 108 mph double past the right fielder to score two runs. Hindle flew out to the first baseman in shallow right field for the first out. Powell was hit by a pitch on a 2-2 count to put runners on first and second. Ellis struck out swinging for the second out. A double steal moved the runners up to second and third during Jackson's at-bat. Jackson, who fouled off several pitches with two strikes, homered to put the Wildcats in front for the first time today. Chrisman grounded out to second to end the inning.

FIFTH INNING

SCORE: Xavier 6, Kentucky 5

TOP HALF: Willoughby is back out for another inning. Xavier opens the inning with a double, followed by a groundout to second base to move the runner to third with one out. The Musketeers come through with a liner over the drawn in infield to make it 6-5. Willoughby's day is done. Ryan Mullan is coming in with one out and a runner on first. The first batter Mullan sees hits a liner into the gap, but Tharnish runs it down to keep it to a single. But with runners on the corners, Mullan gets a pop-up to Jackson, who makes a nice play with the wind and the misting rain in his face. With two outs, Mullan walked the batter on a full count to once again load the bases. Mullan then fell behind 3-1 to the next batter, but a deep fly out to CF keeps the Xavier lead at 6-5.

BOTTOM HALF: Jackson and Chrisman struck out swinging to begin the inning. Peltier flew out to shallow right field for the third out. Nothing doing for the Cats.

FOURTH INNING

SCORE: Xavier 5, Kentucky 5

TOP HALF: Willoughby is back out for the fourth. He walked the leadoff batter on a full count, then fell behind 3-0 to the next batter before battling back to strike him out. Willoughby also struck out the next batter looking on a 94 mph fastball. The second walk of the inning put runners on first and second, but Willoughby gets a fly out to Tharnish to end the inning.

BOTTOM HALF: Chrisman leads off the inning with a double over the head of the left fielder. That ball was hit well. Peltier, with his second RBI chance of the day, drew a walk after a great at-bat. Kelsey tried a few bunt attempts that went foul, then worked the count back even before getting plunked. Tharnish is up with bases loaded and no outs. He hits a liner into left field that's caught, but it's a sac fly as Chrisman comes in to make it 5-2. Brown ropes a liner into right field for another run. He's having a good fall. It's 5-3, leading to a pitching change mid-inning for Xavier. With runners on the corners and one out, Hindle walked to load the bases again. Big opportunity for Powell, who hits a sac fly to make it 5-4. Brown moved up to third with two outs. Ellis beat out an infield chopper to tie the game at 5-5. Hindle was aggressive on the bunt and tried to score from second, but he's cut down to end the inning.

Still, Kentucky plates four in the inning to tie it up.

THIRD INNING

SCORE: Xavier 5, Kentucky 1

TOP HALF: Harris is back out for his third inning of work. A little bit longer of an appearance for him, as he only tossed two innings at Prasco Park against Cincinnati last weekend. The leadoff batter for Xavier roped a single into center field to lead off the frame, followed by a four-pitch walk to put two runners on with no outs. However, Harris spins around and picks off the runner on second. The runner got caught in a rundown and was tagged out at third. The runner on first base stayed put. With a full count, Xavier puts the runner in motion and the batter lined it just over Hindle's glove at second base to put runners on the corners. On a 1-2 count, Xavier (there's no updated roster) hits a three-run shot to make it 5-1. That's followed by a ground-rule double to right field. The second out comes on a groundout to Brown at first base. That's going to do it for Harris. Freshman RHP Grayson Willoughby in with two outs. He gets a strikeout to end the frame.

BOTTOM HALF: Top of the order is back up for Kentucky to begin the third to face a new left-hander for Xavier. Tharnish gets on with a leadoff walk. Brown is hit by a pitch to give two baserunners with no outs for Hindle. Hindle struck out on a check swing for the first out. Tharnish and Brown executed a double steal to put two in scoring position during Powell's at-bat. The freshman drew a walk to load the bases for Ellis, who struck out swinging on a changeup. Jackson hit a slow roller to the second baseman, who scooped it up and got it over to first to end the threat.

SCORE: Xavier 2, Kentucky 1

SECOND INNING

TOP HALF: Harris is back out for his second inning of work. Tharnish makes a nice leaping catch at the wall for the first out. He had to go a long way to get it. Harris quickly gets the second out on an infield pop up to Hindle at second base. Very nice back-to-back breaking balls from Harris to get ahead of the third batter, but he falls behind and then walks him. The batter called for an ABS challenge after the umpire called it strike three, but it's overturned. With two outs, freshman Joey Arend of Xavier hits a two-run homer over the bullpen in right field. Harris struck out the final batter to end the inning.

BOTTOM HALF: Kaden Powell flew out to the warning track in left center field on the first pitch he saw. Ellis and Jackson were hit by pitches in back-to-back plate appearances, giving the Wildcats two baserunners with one out for Chrisman. Chrisman watched a fastball on the outside corner for strike three. With two outs, Peltier floated a single into center field to score Ellis and get the Wildcats on the board. With runners on the corners, Kelsey fouled off a few pitches with two strikes but chased a 91 mph up for strike three.

FIRST INNING

TOP HALF: Nate Harris opens the outing with a one pitch groundout to Ellis at shortstop. Nice play throwing on the run by Ellis. The second out comes on a flyout to Kelsey in left field. A hard lineout to Ellis on a diving play at short ends the inning. Harris was up to 94 mph with his fastball in the first.

BOTTOM HALF: Xavier is starting a left-hander. His fastball is around 92 mph. Tharnish grounded out to SS for the first out. Hudson worked the count before flying out to center field for the second out. Hindle tried a two-out bunt but it was pushed too hard to the first baseman, who makes the play and tags him out to end the first.
