The MLB draft begins in 60 days. As part of a new format for All-Star weekend, the draft will begin on Saturday this year rather than Sunday. According to Joe Doyle of Overslotbaseball.com the first four rounds will take place on the first day of the draft. Rounds five through 20 will take place on Sunday.

Bat Cats Central will provide comprehensive coverage leading up to the draft. With just about two months to go until draft time and high school seasons beginning to wind down, now is a good time to check in on the 2026 class. Based on conversations with various industry sources, it's likely to be an intriguing two days in July for the future of the program.

Kentucky currently has the No. 18 class nationally at Perfect Game and has 10 players ranked inside the top 500 prospects by Prep Baseball Report.

However, it might not be done recruiting this year's class.

Could Kentucky add to its 2026 class?

Sam Finn, a left-handed pitcher from Illinois, is no longer in Kentucky's class. With a new spot open, Kentucky has its sights set on an infielder who recently decommitted from an SEC program.
