First-Team Big South outfielder Scott Campbell chooses Kentucky
Campbell slashed .388/.498/.622 with 11 homers and 54 RBIs in 2025.
Scott Campbell, a First-Team Big South selection in 2025, told Bat Cats Central that he’s transferring to Kentucky for his final season of college baseball.
“I think Kentucky plays a very gritty, fast-paced style of baseball,” Campbell said. “They like guys that can do it all, whether that’s speed, defense, little bit of power, but that’s right up my alley. I think it gives me the best opportunity to not only fit in a program, but a program and coaching staff that kinda fits to what I need to be coached to.
“I was always worried to go to a place where they’re worried about guys hitting home runs or they want someone who is 6-5, 220. I’m definitely not that big, but I still always thought I was a really good baseball player and I’ve got a lot of tools. But I see that value at Kentucky more than other places.”
Campbell, listed at 6-foot, 185 pounds, was excellent offensively for USC Upstate in 2025, slashing .388/.498/.622 with 73 hits, 11 doubles, 11 home runs and 54 RBIs. He was also hit by 23 pitches and drew 20 walks while striking out just 25 times. Campbell was 21 for 24 on steal attempts, so he looks like a strong fit for Kentucky’s offensive style. He profiles as a center fielder with his speed.
