Three Thursday Kentucky baseball thoughts + coverage notes
Kentucky could use a good showing in Bloomington, plus notes on a freshman who's standing out and UK's new ranking in D1baseball.com's top programs.

Fall baseball is winding down for the Kentucky Wildcats. Jonathon Bruner was on hand for a short scrimmage on Wednesday and detailed what happened in the story below. Check it out if you missed it:

I had two other coverage-related notes to hit before diving into three thoughts on Kentucky baseball.
To start, I'll be traveling to Bloomington, Indiana, on Friday for the Wildcats' third exhibition. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. My schedule has worked out in a way this fall that the Sunday pitchers are the only group I've seen. That's good in the sense that I feel better about giving opinions on those guys because of a larger sample size, but I'm looking forward to seeing a different set of arms in this third exhibition.
We'll stick with the same format as the past two scrimmages. I'll post live updates throughout the exhibition for free, followed by premium stories throughout the weekend. Not a premium subscriber yet? Click the button below and access all that Bat Cats Central offers.
Second, some of you on social media might have seen the launch of Inside Kentucky Basketball earlier this week. It's an independent Kentucky basketball website created by Ben Roberts, who spent over 20 years with the Lexington Herald-Leader. I'm honored to be contributing to the site, along with the Hall of Famer and long-time Herald-Leader columnist (also a Bat Cats Central subscriber!) John Clay. Here's what Ben wrote about the move:

I know some of you are here strictly for Kentucky baseball news. After all, it's why I created this place. However, I know some subscribers are fans of the university's sports programs as a whole. If you fall into this bucket, I hope you'll give the new website a try. You won't be disappointed.
Now, onto today's story...
