Kentucky head coach Nick Mingione announced on his radio show on Monday night that sophomore infielder Ethan Hindle will miss the remainder of the 2025 season with an injury he sustained during practice last week.
Hindle, a native of Delafield, Wisconsin, was listed as ‘out’ on the SEC availability report on Friday before the Tennessee series. He finishes the year slashing .224/.484/.448 with four doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI. Hindle led the Wildcats with 19 hit by pitches.
His last game was on April 15 against Miami (Ohio). Hindle laid down a bunt with two outs to score fellow sophomore Kyuss Gargett to give the Wildcats a 4-3 walk-off win over the Redhawks.
“It just shows our toughness,” Hindle said, according to a story from UK Athletics. “Every single time a game gets like this, you have to keep that focus after three or four hours, it doesn’t really matter. We stayed tough throughout the whole thing and we were able to get it done.”
He had another significant moment in the Texas series. With Kentucky down a run in the bottom of the ninth to the Longhorns, Hindle tied the game with a solo homer off vaunted Texas reliever Dylan Volantis.
Hindle was primarily the DH in his starts this season. He started 12 games as the DH, seven games at third base and three games in right field. He joins center fielder Will Marcy as position players who have sustained season-ending injuries during the season.
