It's been a few days since Kentucky and defending Big 12 champion West Virginia met at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio, for a 14-inning scrimmage. Kentucky outscored the Mountaineers 26-10, scoring 25 of the final 27 runs in the scrimmage. Both teams rotated many players and pitchers, making it an insightful day for both coaching staffs.
Today's story highlights seven players who I thought stood out during the action. It's not to say others didn't belong on the list; it's just who I believed had either the biggest highlights or best days, all things considered. For a detailed report that covered many individual players, view the observations post linked below.

Luke Lawrence
Senior second baseman Luke Lawrence was one of the hottest hitters on the roster down the stretch of the 2025 season. The Illinois State transfer hit .476 in the postseason and finished the year hitting .306 overall. On Sunday, Lawrence reached base in four out of his six at-bats. His double down the left field line with bases loaded in the first inning of Game Two scored three runs and helped the Wildcats jump out to a 6-0 lead. Lawrence also drew two walks and played well defensively in his chances at second base.
Lawrence, who was hitting at the top of the order at the end of last season, hit eighth on Sunday. His versatility in the lineup will be beneficial for head coach Nick Mingione this spring.
