True test

The Cats gained road series experience at UNC-Greensboro and Evansville earlier in the season, but neither creates the atmosphere that Swayze Field has (be on the lookout for the beer shower hat giveaway this weekend if you’re making the trip). It’s a rite of passage in the SEC and honestly one of the best things about the league, but will still be a new challenge and a great opportunity for UK.

Man down?

The Rebels ‘ace’ may be Hunter Elliott if you ask people in Oxford, but Cade Townsend, who has been elite (2-0, 0.92 ERA, 32:7 K:BB in 19.2 IP), exited his start in Austin this past weekend after the first batter of his second inning of work. Word is that his MRI (shoulder) came back clean, but I would be surprised if we see any of him this weekend. If he does make an appearance, expect the Cats to really try to make him work deeper counts right off the rip.
