Recruiting notebook: Visit season + post-summer rankings update

A look at where UK's commits landed in recent rankings updates, plus a top-100 recruit was recently on campus.

Fall workouts are underway for Kentucky's 2027 roster. Intrasquads are still a couple of weeks away, and the Wildcats' exhibition against Cincinnati at Prasco Park isn't until Oct. 4.

But the beginning of September is an important time in high school recruiting. Prospects in the 2028 class can take official visits as of Sept. 1. The Wildcats have quickly added five commitments to the 2028 class since Aug. 1, when college coaches could contact recruits directly.

Gavin McGee, a right-handed pitcher from Indiana who was the Wildcats' first commitment in the class, will be among the visitors on campus this weekend, according to a source. He topped out at 94 miles per hour this summer and also throws a changeup, cutter and curveball.

But he's just one of several recruits who have either already wrapped up a visit or will be on campus soon.
