Four members of Kentucky's 2026 recruiting class played in the 27th annual WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Florida, from Oct. 9 – 13. It's the most prestigious event in amateur baseball, featuring 82 teams across the United States and Canada.
"The WWBA World Championship is the top scouting attraction in all of amateur baseball each year, and almost every top prospect in the country attends each year, along with 700+ MLB scouts and college coaches," according to Perfect Game's website.
Catcher Carson May, infielder Robert Omidi and outfielder Kaden Powell each played in the event.
May went 4-13 (.308) in five games with four singles and three RBI while playing with the Royals Scout Team. A 6-2, 220-pound catcher/first baseman from Olathe, Kansas, May has been a steady riser in the rankings over the past year. He earned an invite to the Perfect Game All-American Classic in San Diego in August and is now ranked in the top-60 nationally and No. 2 player in Kansas, according to Perfect Game.
Bat Cats Central's scouting report: A potential catcher or first baseman down the road, May has been considered one of the better power-hitting prospects over the past year out of Kansas. May has recorded a max exit velocity of nearly 103 miles per hour per PBR. May is ranked among the top 250 players nationally by both PBR and Perfect Game. He’s from Olathe, the same hometown as former Kentucky basketball All-American Willie Cauley-Stein.
