Recruiting Notebook: Cats hosting multi-sport standout
Kentucky baseball will host a top prospect in the 2026 class on Friday. Also, three players signed in the 2025 class will attend the Super 60 Pro Showcase in Illinois next month.
One of the top dual-sport athletes in the 2026 class will be in Lexington this weekend. Matt Ponatoski, who attends Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, is expected to be on campus Friday for an unofficial visit with the Kentucky baseball program.
He’s expected to stick around on Saturday for a visit with the Kentucky football program. According to a social media post, Ponatoski was among the players at Moeller visited by Kentucky recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow on Thursday.
Ponatoski is ranked the No. 11 player nationally in the 2026 class by Prep Baseball Report and is ranked in the top 75 by Perfect Game, placing him well within MLB draft territory down the road. However, Ponatoski is a standout on the gridiron as well.
