Miscues sink Kentucky in regional loss to West Virginia
The Wildcats' season is on the brink after a 4-3 loss to West Virginia on Friday afternoon.
CLEMSON, S.C. — West Virginia third baseman Armani Guzman poked a ball into shallow center in the bottom of the ninth, and despite a terrific play by center fielder Griffin Cameron, Guzman had done his job well enough.
Shortstop Brodie Kresser, who led off the inning with a double down the left field line and advanced to third on a wild pitch, rushed home for the winning run, ensuring that Kentucky would leave Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday afternoon with the same feeling it’s had too many times this season.
The Mountaineers rallied from a 3-0 deficit to walk off the Wildcats and put their season on the brink of elimination with a 4-3 final.
