Kentucky pitcher Chase Alderman out for season with torn ACL
A transfer from EKU, Alderman is in his first year with the Kentucky baseball program.
Kentucky righthanded pitcher Chase Alderman will miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a torn ACL, a source told Bat Cats Central. Alderman, who is in his first season with the Wildcats after transferring in from Eastern Kentucky University, will miss his second consecutive season following surgery. Alderman redshirted at EKU during the 2024 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
A Morehead, Kentucky, native, Alderman appeared in 20 games as a freshman with the Colonels and was named All-Atlantic Sun Freshman Team. He had a 4.43 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 44.2 innings and two saves.
Alderman wasn’t cleared to pitch at Kentucky until the end of the fall. He was working his way back in January from arm surgery but did not appear in a game this season because of the ACL injury. According to D1baseball.com, Alderman was throwing in the mid-90s with his fastball during bullpen sessions while working his way back. He was expected to be on scouting radars this spring, if healthy, but the most likely outcome is that he will return to Lexington next year as a redshirt junior.
Kentucky improved to 9-1 on the season with a 9-1 victory over Hofstra on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats will face Alderman’s former school, EKU, on Tuesday and Wednesday before hosting Wofford for a three-game series beginning on Friday.
Stay strong, Chase. The Lord bless you with a complete recovery.
