One of the top prospects in high school baseball picks Kentucky
Carter Shouse from Middletown, Ohio, has the highest current ranking of any future Kentucky commit.
Kentucky baseball has been aggressive on the recruiting trail in recent weeks. On Tuesday, one of the highest-ranked high school baseball prospects in the 2028 class announced his commitment to the Wildcats.
Carter Shouse, a left-handed pitcher and outfielder from Fenwick High School in Middletown, Ohio, announced on Instagram that he's Kentucky's newest commitment. Shouse is ranked No. 31 nationally by Perfect Game and the No. 1 prospect in Ohio.
"2028 OF/LHP Carter Shouse (OH) is one of the more dynamic players in the country & has shown the two-way ability on the circuit for some time now," Perfect Game wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Shouse combines explosive natural tools with immense projectability. At the plate, he delivers a heavy barrel with explosive hand speed & effortless separation. On the mound, it’s a consistent low 90s fastball with run & good feel for a tight slider & deceptive changeup."
Shouse is also ranked in the top 100 by Prep Baseball Report, making him the Cats' top commit at both services. In addition, Baseball America ranks Shouse as the No. 77 high school draft prospect in the 2028 class.
