Kentucky baseball 2025 offseason guide

Kentucky’s 2025 season came to an end on Sunday night after a devastating 13-12 loss to West Virginia in the final of the Clemson Regional. The Wildcats held a five-run lead at two different points in the game, but the Mountaineers rallied each time, including six runs — all with two outs — in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead.

Disappointment in how the year ended is understandable. The Wildcats finished with 12 one-run losses this year, making it one of the more frustrating years for fans to follow. A roller-coaster season had its ups and downs, but the offseason is now here.

State of the program

Great. Let’s look at this from the macro view to start. Kentucky had been to four NCAA Tournaments in its current format, which dates back to 1999, before Nick Mingione became head coach in the summer of 2016. Since then, Kentucky has played in four NCAA Tournaments, been to three super regionals and appeared in the College World Series for the first time. This year, despite needing to replace nearly all of the offensive production and most of the pitching staff from the best team in school history, the Wildcats returned to the postseason once again and reached the regional final.
