Draft day breaks helped shape Kentucky's offense
Kentucky returns five starters from last year's tournament team and brought in a strong position group from the transfer portal as well.

Between Kentucky's roster last season and its top-10 high school recruiting class, head coach Nick Mingione believed 15 players could have possibly been lost to the 2026 MLB Draft.
It was easy to plan for the departure of superstar shortstop Tyler Bell since he was destined to be selected early in the MLB draft – he became the second-highest selection in program history when the Colorado Rockies took him No. 10 overall – but other players' status was more uncertain. Some of the biggest question marks were on the mound, notably ace Jaxon Jelkin and prep right-handed pitchers Grayson Willoughby and Matt Ponatoski, but a few of the position players were in limbo as well.
"Looking at that, it just made it so, so difficult to know exactly what you needed," Mingione told Bat Cats Central. "I felt like we did as good a job as we've done in our time here, when you just look at trying to address the specific needs."
