With Kentucky baseball's season opener less than 45 days away, Bat Cats Central is previewing position groups on the roster. Next on the list is first base.
Previous previews
First base has often been a strong position for the Kentucky baseball program. AJ Reed, a two-way player, won the 2014 Golden Spikes Award and finished his career as one of the best players in program history. Rawlings Gold Glove winner Evan White replaced Reed once his career was over and manned the position from 2015-17. More recently, Louisville native Ryan Nicholson transferred in from Cincinnati and was a star of the 2024 College World Series team, hitting 23 home runs to tie the single-season UK home run record.
